Adding Text with Photoshop

Adding text to an image is one of the easiest things to do. It's the best way to protect the images that you put online as well, and is considered a type of "watermarking."

After you open the image that you want to add text to, click on the Text Tool in the toolbar. It looks like a big T.

Once you've done that you will see in the options bar at the top where you can choose your font, size, and color. Don't worry, it's not set in stone, so if you don't like it once you've added it, you can change it. Just place your cursor over your image, and type away. When you're finished, click the checkmark icon at the top. You will notice in my example that I used the little © copyright symbol. Most basic and commercial fonts come with that symbol. The trick is instead of hitting a letter, you have to hold down the Alt key, and then hit 0169. Voila! A copyright symbol! If one doesn't show up, the font you are using doesn't have it, so switch to a different font if you really want it. If you want to change the font/size/color just put your cursor over the text, and click. Then you can click and drag to highlight the text, then go up to the options bar at the top and make your changes which will then appear in the text on your image.
